How to use BTi

USING SYSTEMATIC MODELS

BTi provides predefined models that monitor markets consistently and repeatably, show how markets behaved historically when particular conditions arose, and flag the recurrence of similar configurations.

The principle

YOU DON'T HAVE TO BUILD EVERYTHING FROM SCRATCH.

Start with predefined models, understand their methodology and historical behaviour, and use them to support your research process: as alerts, to test an idea you are already considering, or as a prompt to investigate a market you had not been following.

FROM THE MODEL TO THE USER'S ANALYSIS

Each model follows transparent, predefined rules. BTi monitors markets, checks when these conditions recur and makes the findings available to users, who decide independently how to interpret them and whether to investigate further.

01 · Start with predefined rules

EACH MODEL EXPLAINS WHAT IT MONITORS AND WHEN IT CONSIDERS A SETUP RELEVANT

The starting point is a clear methodology. Each model uses predefined conditions applied consistently to the same market universe.

You do not have to invent filters and rules from scratch. Start with a structured process, understand how it works and decide whether it is useful for your approach to market analysis.

UniverseWhich markets or instruments are monitored.
ConditionsWhich criteria must be satisfied for a setup to be identified.
RulesThe same conditions are applied systematically over time.
DescriptionThe model's methodology is explained before you interpret its results.
02 · Examine historical behaviour

BEFORE ASSESSING TODAY'S SETUP, LOOK AT WHAT HAPPENED WHEN IT APPEARED IN THE PAST

The model's rules are also applied to historical data, allowing you to examine how markets behaved when similar conditions occurred previously.

This does not turn history into a forecast, but provides context for assessing the model: how often it was triggered, the distribution of outcomes and how stable or variable its behaviour has been over time.

Setup detectedWhen?
Subsequent behaviourWhat happened?
FrequencyHow often?
VariabilityHow consistent was it?
03 · Systematic monitoring

YOU DON'T HAVE TO CHECK EVERY MARKET MANUALLY EACH DAY

Once the rules are defined, the model continues to monitor its universe and flags when the specified conditions recur.

The message is not “buy” or “sell”. It is simpler: this setup, defined by the model and observed historically, has occurred again in the market.

04 · Use the model as support

AN ALERT CAN BE VALUABLE WITHOUT AUTOMATICALLY BECOMING A TRADE

A setup identified by the model can be used in different ways depending on your research process. It may highlight something you were not monitoring, reinforce or challenge your existing analysis, or serve as the starting point for further investigation.

The model provides a consistent, repeatable perspective. The user remains responsible for deciding how to interpret and use it.

DIFFERENT APPROACHES FOR DIFFERENT MARKETS AND NEEDS

BTi incorporates models with different methodologies across several asset classes. Some monitor relative strength and short-term behaviour, others seek market-neutral setups, while others focus on futures, spreads, currencies or commodities.

No single model works for everything: examine those most closely aligned with the markets and behaviour you wish to monitor.

US and Italian equitiesModels applied to specific equity universes.
Global equities and ETFsApproaches applied to international markets and listed instruments.
Momentum and tactical approachesMonitoring relative strength and short- to medium-term setups.
Market-neutral long/shortModels seeking relative setups rather than relying solely on the market's overall direction.
Futures and spreadsSystematic approaches applied to relationships between markets and futures contracts.
Currencies and commoditiesModels dedicated to specific dynamics in foreign exchange and commodity markets.
06 · Integrate the model into your workflow

THE MODEL DOES NOT MAKE DECISIONS FOR YOU

The value of a systematic model lies in its consistent process: defined rules, historical testing and ongoing monitoring of market conditions.

Your own decision-making process takes over from there. Investigate the setup, compare it with other information and decide independently whether and how to use it.

YOU DON'T HAVE TO REINVENT EVERYTHING

Start with predefined models, study their historical behaviour and use them as another layer of analysis: receive alerts, compare your ideas with a systematic process or discover setups worth exploring.

ADD A SYSTEMATIC PROCESS TO YOUR RESEARCH

Explore predefined models, examine their rules and historical behaviour, and use identified setups to support your analysis.

BTi's systematic models are intended for research, analysis and information. Flagged conditions and setups do not constitute investment advice, personalised recommendations or trading instructions. Historical performance is not a reliable indicator of future results. Investment decisions remain the user's responsibility.
